San Antonio Parks and Recreation is holding it’s annual Photo Life Contest. Top prize is $200. Deadline is June 15, 4PM.

From the site:

Photos should capture your fun and active lifestyle in a City park, pool, community center or while participating in our cultural, recreational or athletic programs etc. Contest is open to amateur photographers, 18 and older, with a San Antonio physical address.

I’d like to do an after-work safari early next week.

Let’s look at Tuesday evening and pick a street downtown to run through.  Similar to our walk down S Presa.  Anyone have any better suggestions?  With any amount of luck my new lens will be here by then.

This next Wednesday, we’re going to South Presa Street for a photo outing. Please join the mailing list (Google Groups link on the right) for more information.

Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center

On Saturday April 14 I am planning a trip up to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. I’m afraid if we put it off any longer that we’ll miss out.
The museum is open from 9am to 5:30pm on Saturday. Admission is $7 for adults and $3 for kids 5-12.
Google maps can point the way.

I’m canceling the trip since the wind is pushing 20mph.  Even if the flowers would hold still long enough to photograph, they would be beat to death already.

We’ll be having a Photo Safari at Hemisfair Park at 3:30PM on Saturday, March 3rd.

We’ll just be around the area and maybe hit the Tower of the Americas.

For those of you interested, Flickr Club - San Antonio meets on the first Sunday every month at the Starbucks on I-10 and Vance Jackson.

Things that were discussed:

• Fotoseptiembre is a project that we might work towards. If we can put together a good portfolio together, we can perhaps get a gallery to show our pictures. Possible themes include “Urban Decay of San Antonio”, “Streets of San Antonio”, and “Old Town Mixed with the New City.”
• Flickr Club SA may put together outings where a group will go out and meet for photos. Optionally, they might join SA Photo Safari outings.

Our next photo safari will be at the Lady Bird Johnson Skate Park. It will begin Wednesday, January 31, at 6:30 at the LB Johnson Park.

Some park information to whet your appetite. Bring a tripod and flash.
